When I started looking for a business, I looked at several different opportunities such as franchise sandwich shops, window covering companies, and cleaning services.  I finally decided to pursue the coin laundromat business.

After analyzing other businesses, I realized coin laundromats were the perfect business.  With the other businesses I analyzed, it felt like I would be "buying myself another job".  Although I would be my own boss, the other businesses would require me to work full-time.  In all honesty, I didn't want to work that hard if I was going to buy a business.

When I purchased our first coin laundromat, we used our home equity line of credit to pay for the business.  Unfortunately, I made a mistake when analyzing the numbers. That seemingly little mistake cost me dearly.

That's exactly what happened to me.  At this point, you'd think I would be discouraged right?  On the contrary, I couldn't have been happier.  After all, I now owned a business and I had a plan to turn this business into a real cash cow.

I was going to remodel the store.  By doing so, I would turn this run down laundromat into a thriving business.  At the time I closed the store, it grossed $5,824 a month.  Four weeks later, we reopened the store.

Within six moths of the rennovations, the store grossed $10,870 a month!  The net income also jumped significantly.  The laundromat went from a net income of $721 a month to $4,200 a month.  That's nearly a five-fold increase or $50,400 a year for spending just 10 hours a week on average!
